Total silliness.

So making that little cartoon for banana pancake head got me in a silly mood and I made a bunch of crazy cards and listed them in the etsy shop. Check em out!

Art exhibit this weekend!

I just whipped out this little mixed media piece for the Art and About Roncalli member exhibit going on this weekend. I of course cannot do anything before the week of so I made this and am hoping to get a painting done too. This piece is called "The bottom of dad's toolbox" because that is where I got most of this stuff. It is all the forgotten washers, nails and other little tidbits that end up buried in sawdust. I even included some of that. I had fun making it!

Roncalli High School Atrium
Friday night 6-9 reception with refreshments and live music by Greg Pagel
Saturday 10-4 come see artist demos and bring the kiddies to the craft section where they can learn origami, beading, recycling art and other fun crafts.
This is a totally FREE show so you have no excuses! See you there!

Tag...I'm it.

So getting tagged reminded me that my friend Tina tagged me a few weeks ago and I forgot to pay it forward...opps. Oh well this time it was my new favorite named blog Banana Head Pancake...see previous post. So I guess I need to purge 7 things about me so here it goes...

1. I tried to play guitar hero for the first time this weekend and failed miserably. Molly did better than me.

She's 3

2. I would love love love to have a little cafe someday and serve homemade soup and fresh bread and loose teas and whatever other yummy thing I decided to make.

3. I once met the Tom Jones and made fun of his name because I didn't know it was the Tom Jones.

4. I am a complete slob in my studio/work space.

5. I wear totally unmatching socks a lot and don't care who sees.

6. I bite my nails...stopped for a few years when I had braces but as soon as those babies came off I was right back at it.

7. I am living my dream life. I have a perfect (almost) husband, a beautiful little girl, a business and building I never would have imagined, great funky friends, involved in some fantastic community projects I am very proud of and a totally cute dog to boot. I am lucky lucky lucky!

So I am tagging David, Kate, Out of Character (don't know this person but the blog makes me pee), Gracie Designs, Sillyboodilly, Tina Kugler, Jintrinsique

So you lucky folks get to post 7 things about you on your blog and than link 7 people you want to hear more about. Let them know by commenting on their blogs! It is fun.

Names that make me laugh

Banana head pancake?

This silly girl left a comment on my blog and I laughed for a good 20 minutes over that name. I made me draw this little cartoon and then made me think how cool it would be to embroider this on a tshirt for her. Yeah it won't happen but the idea is cool.

Molly is soooooooo....

silly. Now that she is the big 3 I think that is a daily requirement don't you?

And here is what the blue cards turn into...

Mermaid ATC's. I like being able to blame my kid for my recent mermaid obsession. Perhaps watching the little mermaid 364 times has rubbed off on me too.

When I paint...

.....this is what happens.

The coolest ties ever created...

....can now be purchased here at Persimmons. These amazing ties are created by an amazing up and coming designer Jes Switaj...I need to remember to ask her how to pronounce that! Here is her description of the process of the ties from her etsy shop...
This lovely tie is made from a beautiful dupioni silk. Dupioni is a richly textured silk fabric created from the irregular silk thread formed when two or more silkworms spun entangled cocoons. This silk thread is naturally slubby, uneven and fibrous. When it is woven, these characteristics are evident in the fabric's surface qualities. This gives dupioni silk its uniquely organic, natural charm. This tie is made completely from scratch, by me. (It is NOT purchased pre-sewn and then printed). It is screen printed. The image is printed using an acrylic permanent textile ink and the print has been heat-set.
Truely a work of art to be worn. And I think Jes may be famous someday so you should get them now.

Sorry.

I haven't really posted much the past few days but I have been working at an estate sale for my mom and dad's neighbors. It was a fun process that I could see myself doing again but not often. Those dealer people are tough to take sometimes but I guess it is the nature of the business to be seeking the best deal. I will definately be back to regular posting next week...until then don't forget to check out the Sputnikfest site and if you are an artist apply for the Artta This World juried art and indie craft fair!!! It is sure to be a good time!

Pendants galore.

I made about 25 of them today. There are a few I am not sure I will be able to part with. I am sending a few to a fun shop in Duluth soon so thought I would replenish my stock here. I listed a couple in my etsy shop and the rest are at the store! If you don't have one yet you should.

I love my husband

I just walked into the bedroom where there is a heap (like 6 loads) of unfolded laundry on the bed and started folding and he told me to go away he likes folding laundry. How lucky am I?

My friend Chris just plain ROCKS.

I asked him to come up with a rough draft poster for Sputnikfest and man o man did he deliver or what. Look at this thing. Thanks 10,000 times Chris!

A little tour of Persimmons.

A center display featuring many etsy artists... Kelley, Stefanie, Geri, Emily, and Kate.
The ladies are sporting my crocheted hats. Are they not smart and stylish?

The right wall. Lots of color! The artwork on the walls is mine.
That same side of the store but looking to the right. Lots of crazy fun stuff there including my mom's very cool embroidered dishtowels that she gives away at $6 a pop.
My clever (if I do say so myself) display for my pendants using knitting needles and a wire basket.
The beading area.
The very cluttered fabric button area. The cupboard behind that table is filled with yummy vintage fabrics, tablecloths, napkins and other linens.

Hats hats hats

Once I get started making hats I can't stop. I have quite the surplus of them right now and decided to use the backdrop of freshly fallen snow to take some shots of my creepy head wearing a few of them to list in the etsy shop. January is pretty slow in the brick and mortar so etsy can get a lot more attention.
Today I am going to list more of my ephemera packs. I've been digging in the studio finding all kinds of stuff I didn't even remember I had.
I've had a bad week. I had a flat tire, ran into my friends Jim Dolans shed (and destroyed it), broke the cupboard door, and gave up caffeine. Here's to Friday!

How do you display your ATC's?

So here is a clever little idea I have come up with to display ATC's. I just put a magnet on a rigid card holder and wahla...a great magnet. I love collecting them and have so many cool ones so this way I can hang them anywhere a magnet works. I just put them in the etsy shop and bonus...you get a free ATC in it plus an extra with any purchase! Only $5 and available on etsy or lots more in the store.

Getting rid of some of my fantastic stuff...

I have too much stuff. Way too much stuff. More stuff than I will ever use in my entire life but yet I keep finding more and more to hoard. It is an addiction. Some gals have problems buying $2000 purses or really expensive shoes with names I can't even pronounce but not me. I have a very hard time not buying junk. Just today I went to Vinnies and bought 5 old books...to go with the thousands I already have. I need to share. So I listed this very carefully put together pack of blue things in my etsy shop and will try my best to make more. It is very hard. I have good stuff and don't like to share. But I will.
