My girls.

Love these two so much. Aren't they cute together? The best of friends. Today Is the not so furry one's birthday party. We are going to have a little family get together to celebrate Molly being 4 and my sister Kelly being older than Molly. It is a princess theme and that is a very appropriate theme for Molly. This kid cracks me up and I am so glad she came into our lives 4 years ago. I cannot even begin to imagine how boring life would be without that little goofball in our house. Happy birthday peanut!

Doodles for your home.

Still doodling like crazy. I find it to be very therapeutic. So I have been sketching in an old 1931 High School text book and thought hey why not matte these and sell them? So here is one of them that I just listed in my etsy shop. Let me know what you think.

Charming.

I have so much fun making charm bracelets. Not only do I love playing with the thousands upon thousands of colorful beads I have in my collection but I also love using other things that are scattered about my studio....which is very scattery. This Thursday I will be having a charm bracelet art night. For only $25 you will get to make one of these for your very own using beads, buttons, and any other bits you can find in the store. It will be good fun. The fun starts at 6:00pm and just give me a call before you come so I know how many to expect! Hope to see you then!

Relax....

I need to take that advice. I spent yesterday morning in the ER. I was sure I was having a heart attack but instead it was a panic attack. Wow scary stuff. It is amazing how your body gives you signs that you need to slow down and if you don't listen it makes you listen. It is time for me to slow down and simplify. It is no longer something I can put off. I love my family too much to risk not being here for them. I am not quite sure yet how I am going to do it yet but I will start backing out of things and making life easier by being more organized and taking more time for me. Like maybe go and get a haircut....it's been over 2 years because I can do it myself. I try to do everything myself! Molly and I are going to join the YMCA so we can spend time together being active. I am going to nourish my body with things that are good for me concentrating on more veggies and fruit. I am going to relax. I am going to immerse myself in art 2 days a week alone in the studio. I am.

PS sorry for the diary entry...I just feel like I needed to get it out there so I listen to myself. Thanks!

doodling part 2

So I just love being an artist and letting one thing lead you to another. My doodling journal is so much fun I thought why not doodle and make pendants. So last night instead of journal doodling I did tiny 1 inch by 1 inch doodles and made them into pendants. I was on a roll and made 24 of them today. Ran out of glass and solder or I am sure I would have made more. I just love them. Each one is an original doodle! Watch the etsy shop for them or you can just come on into Persimmons!

doodling.

I have always been a doodler. Give me a pen and paper and I am doodling. Well it wasn't until I got the recent Art Journal by Somerset that I thought about making my doodles into a journal...and I think I am hooked. I just wanted to keep drawing last night. Not to mention the fact that I got a new pen that I am nuts about. I have a pen thing. I get easily attached to pens. This one is a PITT artist pen. I heard my friends talking about pitt pens in our little etsy thread but never thought of buying one until yesterday. It will be a staple in my art supply arsenal now.

I also got a prisma blending marker...how fun! You can do transfers with them by simply laying a toner based copy on your surface ink down and then going over the picture on the back with the blending marker. The solvents in the marker kind of break down the ink and transfer the image.

So if you see me at the coffee shop or sitting anywhere you will likely see me doodling in my new journal.

Cards!!!

Nothing like selling a ton of cards to put me in a card making mood. I decided I am going to give a few of my other designs a try on etsy. I make a lot of different cards and most of them are silly. Watch the shop for more coming soon.

Event of 2008!

Sputnikfest was awarded the event of the year by the Manitowoc Chamber of Commerce last night! It was very exciting. Congratulations to all of the people who worked so hard to make this event reality and I can't wait until September 11 & 12 2009 for the second of many Sputnikfests to come! If you want to see the tricked out trophy stop by the Rahr West Museum. While you are there give Barb the leader of all things Sputnik a big hug!

Giving my blog some love.

I haven't posted much lately. Sorry. Life has been so hectic! Yesterday I slowed down and spent the day with Molly. We started by having coffee and huge frosted goodness cinnamon rolls at my friend Tina's new house. Molly had fun playing with the boys toys. Then we walked to St Vinnies and spent about an hour shopping. Our kind of shopping. Gotta love it when you can get 10 books for $1. Kids don't care that they are not brand spankin new... or at least mine doesn't. She had a blast going through the carwash for the first time in her 4 years. The car was so dirty I couldn't see out the windows so I thought it was time. We ran around all day bringing stuff to the consignment shop and grocery shopping for Glenn's birthday dinner. For his birthday I made him a card, Molly made him a sign and I cleaned all the junk out of the front hallway that we bagged up to bring to St Vinnie's months ago. It always drove him nuts so I figured that would be a better gift than more stuff. I was right. We had a yummy dinner of pecan crusted salmon, a yummy salad (I figured out a pretty close to that Delish Olive Garden Salad at home recipe) and some seasoned brown rice. For dessert cherry cheesecake. Yum yum yummy. It was a nice quiet day with the two I love most!
