Like I needed another thing....

So my friend Geri brought me two huge boxes of goodies after purging her craft room. The boxes were full of stamps, stamp pads, old books, and tons and tons of vintage beads....love her! Well in that box was also some polymer clay. The stuff has always fascinated me. I just could not comprehend how those pictures could possibly be created out of clay. You know those fancy millifori (not sure on that spelling) beads and such. It just seems so complicated. I was really curious since Artigras in Green Bay a few weeks ago when I met a polymer artist who had the wackiest most crazy work I have seen so far. It reminded me of my favorite childhood show Pee Wee's Playhouse for some reason. I even bought a mermaid from that artist... who's card I of course cannot find. Well my good friend Annette was at the shop Friday for our weekly coffee chat and decided she would show me how to make these canes out of clay. She use to make them and sell the stuff like mad when she lived in Key West. She was a little excited when she started playing and my excitement grew as I figured out this crazy cool technique. I am hooked (for the time being)!

This was my first love about 20 years ago when I started crafting. I still dabble for fun and try new techniques.

Clay is so much fun and you seem to be having a lot of it! Makes me want to get mine out and have a go at it again.

Very colorful and fun-looking. But does this have any real world application? I mean, will it help solve the problems of high gas prices or buttheaded forum posts? No, of course not. Therefor, I suggest you spend your time griping about the current state of affairs instead making pretty and interesting objects. Your kind of attitude is preventing people from fully enjoying their right to be miserable Darn you, Kim Geiser, DARN YOU!!

I also demand that you set the comment approval thingy to automatically let all of my comments go immediately to the blog site, without "blog owner approval." But only mine...everyone else's you should approve beforehand. Clearly my comments do much more to lower the intellectual quality of your blog, thus ensuring its greater accessibility to dumb people, of whom I am their leader. All bow before me now.

Pretty colors on those polyanna cane thingies...me likey.

Nice work - there's a great Polymer Clay Guild in Milwaukee, too.

http://mmpcg.org/ Their web site is a tad out of date, but contact Beth Ackley, she'll give you the latest!
