Chairs for Charity is almost here!!!!
So I got up bright and early this morning because I knew the article for our upcoming Chairs for Charity auction would be in the paper. So I stuck my hair in a ponytail and ran across the street to Kwik Trip to get the paper. Our picture is on the first page with a full page article on the cover of the lifestyle section. Here is the link to the well written article....
I really hope there is a huge attendance to the auction and fall art tour. We have worked really hard on this for a long long time and I can't wait to see how it will all turn out!
The fun artful weekend next weekend will kick off with a Friday night reception at Persimmons from 6-9 where you can mingle with the artists and continue Saturday with a tour of 5 studios where you can see artist demonstrations and displays. Then at 6pm the doors will open at the Rahr West Museum with the oral auction starting at 7pm. There will be treats from Garnishes, Pine River Prepack, Stumpjack, and Van's Liquor. It will be a good good time with all the money going right back into the arts in our community. It has been a really fun project that would have never happened without the hard work and dedication of my good friend Heather Doucette and the other members of Art and About. Being the founding mother of the group just less than 2 years ago I am very impressed with the things we have accomplished in such a short time and look forward to the things to come! If anyone is interested in helping us showcase our area and all the talented artisans that call Manitowoc county home please contact me. See you at the auction!

Cool stuff by Max
So I met Max at Art vs Craft a few weeks ago and he was in the area today and stopped by to drop off some of his very cool art. I love these original pieces that are also very affordable and hip. For those who love his style he has two comic books here that are great as well for only $10!
Max and all of the other fresh new artists that I have been meeting make me get excited for things to come in the art world.

Fun weekend!
Yesterday morning we woke up and got going pretty early. We took Molly to Glenn's parents and took the back way to Art Vs Craft. It was a beautiful drive. I really want a cabin on Long Lake near Kettle Moraine Stat
e Forest. It took a little longer I think but it was a great drive. We almost got lost downtown but stumbled upon MSOE where the show was being held. Ok first off the wrist bands for admission had skulls on them. I knew it was going to be fun. I was blown away when I walked in. It was a totally unique and new experience and I loved it! It was so cool to meet a few of the p
eople I chat with on etsy and I met a lot of talented people. I actually have a lot of work to do sending contracts and possibly selling some stuff on consignment! I met a couple of the etsy admin and they were so cool. They along with about a dozen of the artists I talked to are super excited about Sputnikfest as well! Talking about it and hearing others get excited about it made me very anxious for it to happen! I just had a lot of fun! We actually ran into Chris and Chris who own Outside the Box in Sheboygan which was a pleasant surprise. We went to Whole Foods and had lunch. That is the most amazing grocery store I've ever seen! There were little buffets all over with tons of diffe
rent kinds of food and you just bought it by the pound. I tried some things that I have never tried before and will probably never try again.
After that we decided frozen custard would be good for the hot hot weather and stopped at Kopps on the way out of town. Yum. I had a chocolate mint waffle cone. It was just a really good day and we got a bunch of cool stuff met lots of cool people and just had loads of fun. I can't wait until the next Art vs Craft!

My favorite little girl in the whole wide world!
I have really been enjoying her lately. I think 2 is so much fun.
I will not be able to post new pictures for a little while now because I don't have a camera that works with the computer so the picture a day will have to wait for just a short time. Hopefully we will get a new camera very soon! My husband really wants the Canon SLR? I just want a camera that I can use with the computer so I let him take care of the research and buying.
The Art Tour this weekend went really well. Doug Musial came and did some glass demos in the backyard and my friend Jo came and painted one of the chairs she will be donating for the chair auction. There were a lot of new customers that I have never met before so that is always good. A few people said they just never knew what was in the store so they never stopped in. That sparked a conversation between Glenn (my love) and I over a little fire and wine last night that resulted in a great new slogan for Manitowoc....
Don't be afraid to explore, you'll find we have so much more than the nation's largest kitchen store.
If you live here you will get it and for those of you who don't we just had our anchor store close downtown and it was "the nations largest kitchen store". It was kind of the reason a lot of people stopped in town before and now they are exploring the rest of the shops and finding out that we have a nice selection of fun little unique shops here.
