Christmas.

What a wonderful Christmas it was. Christmas eve we spent at my mom and dad's and ate too much and drank too much but had a great time exchanging gifts, playing games and visiting family. Molly got a Mrs. Goodbee house and wasn't expecting it at all so she really got excited. We came home and promptly went to bed so Santa would come. Christmas morning Molly came in bed by us and snuggled. She forgot Santa came and we had to remind her! She was so cute and thankful for all her gifts. I was pretty impressed by her gratitude. She said thank you over and over and kept saying how she was so lucky. It was adorable.
Christmas is so wonderful. I love being with family. This is a pic of me, Kelly my sis, Kevin my bro and Molly. I am so lucky to not only have my family that I love and cherish but my husband's family who I love just as much. We are a truly blessed. We forgot to bring Molly's gifts to Glenn's parents on Christmas day and we live about 40 minutes away from them. Glenn was pretty bummed out and was going to drive back home to get them when Molly said "Daddy it's alright Christmas is about giving, don't go home." I was happy that the talks we had leading up to Christmas taught her a little about the true meaning of the season. I hope she never forgets that.

Give Get.

Words to live by. If we all gave a little more we would get the world be all hope for. Take time out for a friend in need, volunteer your time or donate to a family in need this holiday season. You will be amazed what you get in return.

Santa

Our downtown Santa is very authentic looking but not so much on the acting the part side. While he was in the store 2 kids came and he told them about his real job as a manure truck driver. My advice to Santa's all over...please don't tell the kids about your day job. They think you work at the North Pole all year making toys. Even if they are only 3...they know about the real Santa and if you want them to think that is you maybe keep off the topic of hauling poop for a living? Just my advice take it or leave it.

Molly enjoyed his company none the less. I quick got this shot at the end of the hour and a half visit when she would finally sit on his lap.

Also I was wondering if the other parents out there noticed that kids seem to get sassier as Christmas gets closer? I think saying the old you better behave or Santa won't come only makes them see how far they can push you ...even more. I am usually pretty good at threatening bad behavior with things I will actually follow through on but for some reason it just comes out at this time of year. Today when she painted the dining room chair blue..."Do you not want Santa to come?"...just came out automatically. Really I could never be so mean as to not give her anything Christmas morning but I can't stop saying it either. I guess the sassiness is really just my fault after all. Oh well it will all end in one short week when she is high on sugar and surrounded by a mound of wrapping paper and boxes. Then it will be back to just plain old threats like "keep it up and you're going to bed now" Until then Merry Christmas!

A couple of silly girls.

Molly and I were taking turns taking pictures of each other this morning and these are a couple of those pics. She is so silly....I wonder where she gets it from? Note the drawing on the wall behind me. We have decided to keep it there until she gets older so we have something to show her when she says things like you never let me do anything.

If you sew....

You should visit Cheap Old Crap on etsy!!! I am listing the stash.

I need opinions???

So far is this a little too bold? The big hoops are about 1.5-2 inches in diameter and I plan to hang some wrapped stones from random hoops. I will also be distressing it. It is a gift for my sister. I found an old cigar label with her name on it and the bird is one of Grandmas old pins. I love it and would have no problem wearing it...I tend to wear things that stick out but want to know if you would wear it????

celluclay.

Is fun stuff. We made the little things on Thanksgiving and after decorating this is what I came up with.

A time to love.

I don't often like to express my opinions on things that may offend others on my blog. I like to try and keep it light and happy but I saw something today that just made me cry and feel sorry for all of us. A man was killed at Walmart on Black Friday. The HUGE man...I believe they say he was 6-4 and about 275 pounds suffocated as 1,500 people piled into the store to get their "great deals". Yeah they crushed him and he died. Opps sorry didn't notice the man lying on the floor because I had to get my big screen tv. It hurts my heart. It hurts not just because of what happened but what we have become.

As Christmas gets closer I hope everyone remembers what it is really all about. It is not about giving someone something that they may love to get but in 5 years or less will forget about. I don't know about you but I don't remember what I got 3 years ago for Christmas but I do remember being with the people I love and the look on my little girls face when she saw the lights on the trees and snow on the ground for the first time. That I will never forget.

Let's just try to treat each other a little kinder and think about others instead of just ourselves all the time. Please.

The Fabric Motherload!!!!

I went to Vinnies the other day and I just about yelped. There was so much cool old fabric that I couldn't even fit it all in my cart. My friend Geri makes these totally incredible clothes from vintage fabric and it just happened to be all that kind. I bought like $60 worth of fabric...which is ridiculous because I already have an obscene amount...and she came and got a bunch of it. I cannot wait to see what she creates with all of it. You really do need to go to her etsy and give her some love. She is super cool. Oh hope you don't mind Geri but I used one of your pics in my post.
