New Work and a busy busy gal.

Blahhhhhh I have been soooo soooo busy lately. I have been totally neglecting my little blog. I have been getting a few things made though and managed to list a few of them on etsy. Included in that is this little piece that I just love. I know I always say that, but I just love making everything I make so I am not lying! I used an old earring for the skeleton of this one. Using copper wire I wrapped some turquoise and yellow trade beads and some tiny little purple pearls in the earring. I hung it from a recycled piece of denim braided with some colorful yarn and hemp. Love the look so much I decided to start using more fabric in my designs. Now I am on the hunt for rag rug balls of fabric yarn....because the dozen or so I already have are not enough???? Yeah I have a problem. Anyhow this piece does close in the back with a lobster claw and chain. I also am thrilled about the old atlas that you see in the background of the picture and look forward to using it for many more pictures in the future.

Tomorrow I am hoping to play in the studio after teaching a summer art class at the Rahr until 1:00....so don't come in until the afternoon because I won't be here. Have a happy summer day!

My week in review.

My camera batteries were dead this week so I couldn't really download pics so now I am catching up on the past week! This is a great necklace I made that I decided to keep. I made the flowers with old millinery pieces, old fabric and beads. Love it.

Hung out with my friend Tina and met the fabulous Lynda Barry. She freakin rocks (well they both do) and if you ever get a chance to see her speak do not pass it up. Her take on creativity and how much we need it in our lives is so spot on I was super excited listening to her talk. Not to mention that she is hilarious. It was so fun.

It was one of the first nice weekends so I extended the garden a little. My veggie garden spot didn't really get enough light so now that shouldn't be a problem. In a couple of weeks I will get some tomatoes, peppers, and anything else that looks yummy. Cannot wait!!! I love playing in the dirt.

And last but definitely not least I had lots of fun again playing with my no bake clay. I also tried some polymer clay but decided for how I like to use it the no bake is the way to go for me. I like the Sargent Art brand called Sculpt-it. I tried others but that one is the best for me. I design them using stamps and other textures, let the dry overnight, antique them with an antiquing medium and then paint and diamond glaze them. I just adore every step of this process and ordered more clay so I can make more soon! Now if only I could clone myself so I had someone to list all of them for me on etsy!

Copper Flora

I made another mixed media necklace today. I was kind of inspired when I visited Wrap it Up for my afternoon Chai and one of Shannon's very very cool friends from Chicago freaked out over mine. I have been hoarding this brooch for a bit now and decided it would be the perfect focal point for a necklace. I really like how this turned out and the pictures don't really do it justice.

I LOVE IT!!! There is a silver and jade pin from my Grandma that I have been holding onto since she passed knowing I would use it for something fantastic someday. I really love my soldering iron lately. I am having so much fun!

Accident Prone Day.

I made a whole mess of $15 pendant necklaces strung on waxed linen and using a button for a clasp yesterday. I was going to list this one on etsy but couldn't really figure out a good way to photograph it so it will just be in the store. Look at the bosom on that angel! It is an old Cracker Jack charm. I paired it with turquoise and a few vintage millinery flowers. It's cute. And only 15 bucks!

I had one of those mornings this morning that gave me a lot of signs I should maybe stay home. When I was in the shower washing my face I rammed my pinkie up my nostril....OWCH. Then while putting on my mascara I poked my eye and then got mascara all over my face. Luckily so far nothing else to bad has happened since then but man that sucked. I haven't really gotten much accomplished today mostly because I am afraid I will stab myself or burn myself with solder. Oh well tomorrow is another day!

Addicted to crocheting.

I haven't been a very good blogger this weekend. I didn't have a camera so I just didn't think I had anything worth posting without pictures. I went and stole my mom's camera again this morning so now I can blog again.

I have been making these crocheted necklaces this weekend and love how they turn out. This one is coral and turquoise which I think is a beautiful combo. I've been making them with all different stones. I am just doing them as a really long strand that you can wrap around your neck one two or three times and tie the ends. I love them.

It was a fun weekend. We went to Bay Beach this weekend which is a little kiddie amusement park in Green Bay. It sure is a whole lot smaller going as an adult. I remember going when I was little thinking it was the biggest most exciting place ever. Molly had a blast on all the cute little rides. I cried a little when we went on the first ride..the carousel..she got so excited when it started... her sheer joy of life and being there on that ride was so freaking beautiful. I love that child.

So off to do dreaded bookwork right now.
